FRANZISKA STÜNKEL, all the stories 162, 2022

From February 14, we are very pleased to present Franziska Stünkel's latest works under the title COEXIST - LOCAL GLOBAL at Jarmuschek + Partner gallery.

In search of natural reflections on glass, which in their condensation tell of the coexistence of human life, Franziska Stünkel has been traveling for over thirteen years with her Leica through numerous countries and continents. Charged to the highest complexity, her atmospheric and at the same time documentary photographs are the visualization of the commonalities and contrasts that exist in our diversely networked world at all times. For this sixth part of her COEXIST series, the artist photographed, among other places, in Berlin, Sydney, Doha and Chicago from 2020 to 2022. Special conditions and unusual challenges often determined the context of her travels, and so global issues that are still relevant today, such as man's interaction with nature, pandemics, and digital impacts, always resonate subtly yet intensely in these new images.

Franziska Stünkel (*1973) is an internationally awarded photo artist, film director and screenwriter. She studied fine arts at the University of Fine Arts Kassel. After her diploma she became a master student of Prof. Uwe Schrader. Her photographs can be seen in museums, art institutions and galleries and are in numerous collections, such as that of the Sprengel Museum Hannover. Among the awards for her photographic work are the Audi Art Award and the Berlin Hyp Art Prize. In 2023, Franziska Stünkel was nominated for the prestigious Prix Pictet. Her illustrated book Coexist was published by Kehrer Verlag in 2020. Franziska Stünkel's films have been shown in 19 countries at over 170 film festivals and have won multiple awards. Her feature film Nahschuss (The Last Execution) starring Lars Eidinger, Devid Striesow and Luise Heyer was released nationally and internationally in 2021/2022 and has been featured in competition sections of renowned international film festivals.
