Jakob Roepke has been working on his small-sized collage paintings since 1996. Now there are nearly 1000 separate plates. In an allegorical way the depicted occurences tell of the the human self's various options for acting in all kinds of situations, led by various attitudes and emotions. Inside and Outside ( and their mutual dependency, here shown in a pseudo-realistic setting , should thus also be seen from a psychological perspective. In the interiors varying themes, situations and topics are reoccuring. Each picture is a world on it's own, but conceptionally it is also woven in a context of Jakob Roepke's complete collage works, also through this network are unfolding posssible meanings of a single collage painting. Finally, allusions and citations from art history and popular imagery open yet another dimension of Roepke's work.
